COMMON USES: This medicine is an androgen hormone used in men to provide testosterone when the body cannot produce enough.
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine has a MEDICATION GUIDE approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. TEAR THE MEDICINE PACKET open at the dotted line. Squeeze the contents into the palm of your hand or directly onto the application site. Apply this medicine right away to clean, dry skin on the shoulders and upper arms as directed by your doctor. It should be applied at the same time each morning after showering or bathing, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. The area to which you apply this medicine should be able to be covered by a short sleeve t-shirt. DO NOT ALLOW another person to apply this medicine for you. DO NOT APPLY this medicine to the stomach, genitals, or groin area; on broken or irritated skin; or on wounds or open sores. ALLOW THIS MEDICINE to dry completely before dressing. COVER THE APPLICATION SITE (eg, with a shirt) to prevent others from coming into contact with this medicine. If direct skin-to-skin contact with another person is expected, wash the application site well with soap and water to remove the medicine. WASH YOUR HANDS with soap and water immediately after using this medicine. FOR BEST RESULTS, wait at least 2 hours after applying this medicine before you shower or swim. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from heat, fire, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. DISCARD USED OR UNUSED medicine packets appropriately in the trash out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
CAUTIONS: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product, including alcohol. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE or use this medicine for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Large doses of this medicine may lower your sperm count. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. DO NOT CHANGE from this medicine to other testosterone products without talking with your doctor. The application site and/or dose may not be the same as other testosterone products. LABORATORY AND/OR MEDICAL TESTS, including blood counts, prostate specific antigen (PSA), liver function, blood cholesterol, blood calcium levels, and blood testosterone levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY AFFECT CERTAIN LAB TEST RESULTS. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. PATIENTS WHO USE androgens (such as testosterone) may have an increased risk for prostate cancer. Check with your doctor if you have questions about your risk for prostate cancer while you use this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. THIS MEDICINE IS FLAMMABLE. Allow this medicine to dry after applying it before you smoke or go near an open flame. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT ALLOW OTHERS to come into contact with the medicine, the application site, or any unwashed clothing that may have touched the application site. If another person comes into contact with this medicine, the other person should wash the general area of skin with soap and water as soon as possible. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY if your female partner develops masculine signs such as unusual body hair growth or loss, significant increase in acne, or deepening voice. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially enlarged prostate or prostate cancer. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE HARM TO THE HUMAN FETUS. If a pregnant woman should come into contact with this medicine or any unwashed or unclothed skin where the medicine has been applied, she should wash the general areas of contact with soap and water as soon as possible and contact her doctor. IT IS UNKNOWN if this medicine is found in breast-milk. THIS MEDICINE SHOULD NOT BE USED by women. DIABETES PATIENTS: This medicine may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: A SIDE EFFECT that may occur while you are using this medicine includes skin irritation at the application site. If it continues or is bothersome, contact your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience breast tenderness or enlargement; breathing problems while sleeping; calf or leg pain, swelling, or redness; changes in skin color; change in the size or shape of the testicles; dark urine; excessive daytime sleepiness; frequent, prolonged, or painful erections; loss of appetite; memory problems; mood or mental changes (eg, anxiety, depression, hostility, suicidal thoughts); nausea; new or worsening trouble urinating (eg, frequent urination, weak urine stream, or inability to urinate); pale stools; severe or persistent headache, dizziness, or blurred vision; shortness of breath; stomach pain; swelling of the ankles, feet, or legs; trouble sleeping or other sleep changes; unexplained or unusual weight gain; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting; or yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
